I started working for a major retailer while in college and stayed in retail management and buying for almost 20 years. I got the urge to do something different and started teaching. I taught marketing, entrepreneurship and fashion marketing (you'd never know it from my blue-spotted shoes and clothing!) for 12 years.
Because teaching gave me more time to devote to things I enjoyed doing, I was able to get involved in singing in a chorus and in quartets. I was also able to have some fun painting again and began taking painting lesson. I'd wanted to own my own business for some time, and I knew it would have to be something creative.
In 2000 I attended an entrepreneurship workshop in California to help me motivate students to start businesses. My niece took me to a PYOP studio while I was there, and it motivated me to start my own business. When I returned to San Antonio, I began writing my business plan and opened my studio about 10 months later. I truly enjoy having my own business!
